The Family Harm Initiative Governance Group for the Bay of Plenty was established recently with the signing of a partnership agreement between government agencies NZ Police, Oranga Tamariki and Department of Corrections with local community organisations: Tauranga Women’s Refuge, Shakti Women’s Refuge, Tauranga Living Without Violence, Cedar Charitable Trust and Tautoko Mai.

This group has been established to support and provide oversight for those agencies and community organisations who regularly contribute at the Safety Assessment Meetings (SAMs Table), a local initiative to support NZ Police with follow up and taskings from incidences of violence, including intimate partner violence, family violence, and sexual violence.

The representatives of the Governance Group are:

·                     Dr Moana Tane - Chairperson (CEO, Tauranga Living Without Violence)

·                     Hazel Hape - Manager, Tauranga Women’s Refuge

·                     Rupal Mehta - Manager, Shakti Women’s Refuge

·                     Amanda Girvan - Manager, Cedar Hub Charitable Trust

·                     Julie Sach - CEO, Tautoko Mai

·                     Chris Summerville - Acting Area Prevention Manager, WBOP Police

·                     Joel Ngātuere - Site Manager, Oranga Tamariki

·                     Mark Nijssen - Lead Service Manager, Department Of Corrections
