We were one of three local community organisations that were awarded a fantastic donation by the Western Bay Women’s Fund - and want to thank them so much for their support!

What an awesome time we had at the Long Luncheon - courtesy of the Western Bay Women’s Fund on 17 May 2025. Here is a link to the video on LinkedIn - thanks to the videographer Scott Martin!

Today we are commemorating the many (thousands) of Indigenous women who are missing or have been murdered in Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

In the aftermath of the Australian national election, on the first-year anniversary of the convened National Cabinet on gender-based violence and National Crisis Talks on violence against women, a discussion amongst three panellists focused on the importance of commemoration, but also the commitments that governments need to make to eliminate violence against women, especially Indigenous women and their families.

Thank you to the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence against Women (CEVAW), for the webinar today: Amplifying Unheard Voices: Commemorating Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Join the conversation people on: https://cevaw.org/

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

When a survivor of sexual violence speaks up, how we respond can change everything. Too often, they are met with doubt, blame, or silence when what they need most is belief and support.

This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we’re asking you to take the hashtag#StartByBelieving pledge and commit to:

• Listen with compassion
• Provide tangible support
• Educate ourselves and our communities
• Challenge harmful attitudes
• Advocate for justice

Sign the pledge today and be part of the movement to end the silence. Visit https://loom.ly/lWVJ_2A to make your commitment official.

Together, we can create a world where survivors feel safe, supported, and heard. It starts with us. 💙

1 April 2025

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) – a time to shine a light on the reality of sexual violence and take action to support survivors.
Too often, survivors face disbelief, blame, or silence when they share their stories. This can add to their trauma and prevent them from seeking help. But we have the power to change that.

The Start by Believing campaign is a global movement that encourages us all to respond with belief, compassion, and support. When someone discloses, our response can make all the difference.

This month, let’s commit to breaking the cycle of silence. Your belief could be the first step in someone’s healing journey.
